Show: “Hallooo Radio Show”

Berlin, Munich, Germany

Vinyl, ambient, Rare music

Collectors Auri and Denis are no strangers to music. Now based in Munich and Berlin, both DJs met through work some time ago. It was not long before they realised they both loved  vinyl and began to share music.

Early into mixing, they realised they shared a positive energy and similar taste. “Similar, but still surprising”, is how they put it.

After Denis moved to Berlin, they needed a platform to exchange music. That's how the Hallooo Instagram account came together, in which the radio show is now based on.

On the launch of their first mix, a short interview follows:

How long have you been DJing for and how would you describe your sound?

We have both been interested in music since we were kids. Our DJing began some 8 years ago. It has always been important to us not to be limited by genre, so we can keep things interesting and surprising.

How did growing up in Germany influence your music?

We both grew up in Germany and the access to music from all over the world has certainly influenced us. With the exception of German rap from the 90s, music from Germany only became interesting for us a few years ago. The whole NDW (Neue Deutsche Welle) thing, German chanson and also releases on private labels can now be found more and more frequently in our collection.

Who or what are you inspired by?

We are very inspired by friends and other DJs. It’s amazing when you hear a track from the 80s or earlier that remains relevant today. We want to capture the uniqueness and freshness of this phenomenon. For us, timeless music is something special, and we are always after those records.

In a way we try try to build our own musical archive. But at the same time, we collect sounds from all over the place. With field recordings and dusty record shops you collect so much more than just from photos. It’s amazing.

As far as our mixes are concerned, it's more what surrounds us at the moment, the mood and of course, the current situation in which the mix is recorded.

Is there something you try to convey in each mix?

We always want to create a mood. This can be for the club, but also for the beach or the inner chakra temple. So you can look forward to many different Hallooo-Shows. Each with different sounds and different influences.
